Testing Fonts
I like the idea of using this font for a double page spread and it is very simular to this issue. I feel it would not be an appropriate font to use for a front cover as it does not particuarly stand out
These are some fonts whichI felt standed out and would look appealing on a front cover.

Generating possible ideas for a colour palette
I have based this colour palette on the idea that I almost definatleley want to use the colours black and white along with an additional colour in order to avoid a colourless boring looking page. However I do feel that by using one bright colour it will enable me to produce a professional looking magazine and avoid the clashing of colours. After looking at a number of other magazines for inspiration I have come to understanding this ideas is often used upon the successful magazines such as Q and NME. I was not entirely sure which specific shade of colour I was wanting to use therefore I have layed out 3 different shades of the colour (A light, dark and medium shade)

Choosing a model for my magazine front cover
My first choice of model is Emma. I thought when taking these pictures I would try something a bit different with her hair and makeup. However I'm not particularly keen on the way the eye make up looks, I feel it looks too heavy rock and 'gothy' which does not fit with my indie/alternative genre. I also feel her makeup combined with her hair looks a bit rebelish and punky like which is not the look I wish to portray. If i was to consider using her as my model I would have to consider a more natural look-especially in eye makeup and her hair down.
Next, I considered combining Emma with Blake to form a duet band. With peircings and dark hair I feel their looks are almost simular which makes them work well together to be featured in a band. My idea of these two to be in a band together came from 'Crystal Castles'-I really feel these two are simular to that band and crystal castles are often featured in magazines such as NME which is a magazine I wish to use for inspiration to create my final print work.

From the audience feedback I have received, the choice was between catherine and Katie. The majority found Emmas images slightly scary which is not what I would like on a front cover image. I'm not sure Catherine suits the indie genre, I feel personally she would be more suited to a pop kind of genre, also in terms of hair, I think hers is too light which washes her face out, making the attention drawn to objects and clothing in the image rather than the models face.

Preliminary magazine
Post production
This is my final front cover. The colour scheme I decided to use was orange white and a very dark blue (almost black) I has originally chosen to use blue however it didn't stand out and grab my attention quite how I liked it to so I decided to use a more brighter colour. When carrying out this task I already had quite a good knowledge of photoshop however I feel like I have developed a better understanding of the programme now. For example I now no the use of the eraser tool and I have a better understanding of how the layers in the programme work.
